Carmel Valley is home to some incredible hiking trails and beautiful scenery. Garland Ranch Regional Park is a great place for day hikes where you can choose trails in the shade or sun, either easy or difficult. You will probably see horses and dogs as you hike, since Carmel Valley is one of the most dog friendly places in the world – yet you won’t find all the mess that other places have when allowing dogs – people here pick up after their dogs!
Speaking of dogs, one of their favorite places to visit when coming to Carmel Valley is the beach in Carmel-by-the-Sea, right at the end of Ocean Avenue. The beach is off leash for dogs, yet you won’t find any dog poop on the sand. As you stroll the beach keep your eyes out for dolphins and surfers, both swim close enough to the shore to enjoy watching.
Close to our ranch is one of the best hiking trails ever, it is the start of the three day back pack trip to Big Sur. The trails are well kept and there are multiple camps along the way. Things you won’t need if you’re spending the night with us, but it means that the trails are very well kept up! Starting at the Los Padres Dam you wind around the right edge of the water and plunge right onto the hiking trail.
