Carmel Valley is close to some of the most beautiful coastline in the world. Carmel-by-the-Sea has a beautiful beach that displays stunning sunsets in the evening and sports surfing and dolphin viewing during the day; all while sitting or walking on beautiful white sand. You’ll be able to watch dogs play off leash and see your feet as you walk in the clear water.
Further south as you drive down highway 1 you will see the rocky coast of Big Sur that people come from all over the world to see. The drive south leads you to enchanting places like Julia Pfeiffer State Park where you can see the only waterfall on the west coast that falls right into the ocean. Further on down the coast you can stop and tour a lighthouse with stunning views, see hundreds of huge sea lions lounging on the beach. If you continue a little further you have the chance to visit Hearst Castle, built and owned by the famous Randolph Hearst. And if you get that far, don’t miss driving into the town of Cambria – a great place to stop and have a bite to eat.
Carmel Valley is the gateway to all of this and so much more. But don’t take my word for it – look at our “Excursions” page, then take the time to explore it yourself!
